"Lost Names" climax

The last part of the book. The narrator is now in high school, but is really learning very little. Now, all the "high scholars" are just doing hard labor for the "Empire." His mother comes to see him, and he decides to go home. He is home for a very short period of time before the emperor makes an announcement, allegedly of a new weapon that can destroy the allied forces. The emperor comes on the radio and...says that Korea is free, Japan is conquered, and for all Japanese troops to go to the homeland immediately. The people are over-joyed and the rest of the book is a sum-up of Japanese people leaving, getting kicked out, or (the people we see almost) getting killed.

actually, he is still in middle school, 7th grade or so, since it is the second grade of junior high school. Junior high school is middle school. I think that the climax is one of two parts, wether the japaneese would kill the father or if the japenase would still opress the Koreans. I tend to think that the former is the climax because he is a main character and everyone is looking up to him. He is like the most important person working against the japanese. THat is the most tense part where people all wonder what will happen next. SInce this isn't a short story, all three parts, the jap killing the father, the jap continuing to opress the Koreans, or when the emporer announces that Korea is free, can be the climax. A long story such as this one can have many climax. Or maybe the whole part is the climax. But the most tense, exciting part is finding out wether the father lives or not.

Yeah....I thought he was in middleschool too.... anyways that is besides the point. Personally I think that the final fight against the remaining Japanese police and having the main character as the key military player-role.

You are right anthonyk. He is still in middle school because in the last chapter, he mentiones that he is 13 and that would only be 8th grade. Anywany, don't you find it cruel that the japanese would make the koreans work on the airfield kind of like slaves?

I was sort of confused when you wrote that he was in high school. I thought that maybe I had skipped a whole page or something, but reading the other people's comments, I can see that I wasn't mistaken. :3 Anyway, good job on your postings!
